1.       Definition of Narrative Text

Narrative text is a type of paragraph development pattern or story essay that presents a series of events and is arranged chronologically with a sequential time sequence

2.       Social Function of Narrative Text

Is to help the reader understand a story essay to be clearer with the imagination or imagination he gets and to entertain the reader

3.       Type of Narrative Text

·         Informative Narrative (expository)

This was made with the aim of conveying accurate information about an event or events.

·         Artistic Narrative Writing

This type aims to provide an aesthetic experience to the reader through the use of figurative language

·         Suggestive Narrative

Narrative the type with the narration of an event or story with a hidden intention to the reader.

4.       Generic Structure

·         Orientation

At the beginning, there will be information on the time, place, character and disposition, as well as other elements that are considered important to get a good impression from the reader.

·         Complications

The author has explained important events, the background of the conflict, to the triggers that cause conflict between the characters in it. In the complication section, there are other events as a result of the previous conflict, which will eventually reach a climax or peak.

·         Resolution

After reaching a climax in the complication section, this resolution is a sign of the conflict decreasing until it can be resolved.

·         Reorientation

In the last or closing section, there is usually a message that the author wants to convey in the story. This section is actually not required to be in a narrative text.

5.       Characteristic features

·         Using narrative language style to tell stories, stories, and events in a narrative essay.

·         Has a clear storyline from the beginning, middle, to the end.

·         Having conflicts and events or cause-and-effect events that support each other's storytelling.

·         There are story-forming elements such as theme, setting, plot, point of view, and characterizations or characters.

6.       Narrative text elements

·         Theme, is a topic or subject to develop a written story essay.

·         Setting, such as time, place of occurrence of events or events, social environment, and interactions.

·         Characterization or character, namely the way the author describes the character or character in moving a story.

·         Plot, is a series of events that have a pattern and try to solve the conflict in the narrative.

Gold Needle

In ancient times, eagles and chickens coexisted, got along well, and took care of each other. The eagle and his family sleep in the tree, while the chicken sleeps under the tree with his family. Every morning they greet each other and interact well.

One day, the female eagle was sitting under a tree sewing clothes for her cubs. The female eagle sews clothes using a needle and gold thread that she got from her grandmother.

Not long after, the hen came along with her chicks, apparently they had just finished walking for food. Then the hen asked the eagle "Hey eagle, what are you doing?", "Hmm, here I am sewing clothes for my children", explained the eagle. The hen saw the gold needle and thread used by the eagle, then she was interested in borrowing it.

“Wow, what a nice thread and needle you have, may I borrow it? I also want to make clothes for my children.” "Of course you can, I happen to be almost done. I'll lend you this gold needle and thread later." "Wow, thank you, Eagle. You're so good to me"

After the eagle finished sewing the clothes for the children, then she immediately lent the needle and gold thread to the hen. With a happy heart the mother hen received the needle and gold thread, then immediately sewed clothes for her children.

Time went on, the sun was almost setting, but the mother hen had not finished sewing clothes for her chicks. It was getting dark, the hen was still busy sewing clothes for her chicks. Suddenly the eagle's golden needle accidentally fell to the ground. The hen immediately looked for the needle by scratching the ground, she had also walked around the tree, but could not find it.

It doesn't feel like the night has turned to morning, and the golden needle has not been found. The hen was very scared, she kept looking for the golden needle on the ground but she couldn't find it. Finally the hen decided to explain the incident to the eagle. And sure enough, the eagle was furious when she heard that. She told the hen to look for the golden needle until she found it, because the needle was a gift from the eagle's grandmother.

Day after day has passed, the golden needle belonging to the eagle has not been found. Until finally the limit of the eagle's patience had run out. Then the eagle got angry and told the hen that she really hated chickens and in return the eagle and all his descendants would make chickens as their daily food. Hearing this the hen was very sad and sorry, she kept looking for the golden needle but until now she couldn't find it either. Finally, according to his words, until now eagles and chickens always eat chicken every day. And the hen also has a habit of scratching or digging the ground, because she is looking for the golden needle of the eagle that has not been found until now.
